'Run On' Episode 6 sees Mi-joo (Shin Se-kyung) and Seon-gyeom (Im Siwan) make their romantic interest in each other clear. However, there is one thing that troubles Mi-joo and that is Seon-gyeom's relationship with the CEO of advertising agency Dann — Dan-ah (Sooyoung). In one of the previous episodes, we saw Dan-ah claim to Mi-joo that she was Seon-gyeom's first love and that it took him really long to get over her.
After this, when Mi-joo hears Seon-gyeom speak of Dan-ah as if she was his savior as he counted the many ways in which she handled his career and cleaned up his mess including the recent scandal, we see a hint of jealousy. In Episode 6, however, this hint grows into a big problem because Mi-joo angrily announces that she feels like she is in a love triangle with all the attention that Seon-gyeom pays to Dan-ah.
She also asks Seon-gyeom if the two of them ever dated and Seon-gyeom doesn't hesitate before saying no. So it is clear that Dan-ah is only feeling possessive of him and wants to ensure that someone that he would involve himself with is trustworthy. Then there is also Dan-ah's claim to her stepbrother that she is lesbian. Is she really one or is that as her brother claimed, an excuse to get out of marrying someone solely to help secure the future of her conglomerate family? On a side note, Seon-gyeom's biodata was also in the list of profiles that her father had sent over to her to select from for mutually advantageous matrimony. Even as we are confused over Dan-ah's intentions, we also wonder how things will proceed between her and the young painter whose work she is intrigued by.
Turns out another of Yeong-hwa's (Kang Tae-oh) paintings has caught her attention and she wants her hands on it, however, this time around, Yeong-hwa decides to play hard to get and tells her she may not have the painting. She had lied to him about the cost of her broken bracelet, she had also laughed at him when he had tried to pay the cost of her bracelet and all of that hints at a rocky but rather interesting progression in their relationship. She has learned that he is all of 23 years old and a student still at that. He believes that she is a Rapunzel who has locked herself in a tower, and he is intrigued enough to want to bring her down from the tower that she had locked herself in.
'Run On' will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9 pm KST on JTBC and can be streamed on Netflix in the US.
