CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Two men were shot and killed after police said they tried to rob a Pizza Hut in east Charlotte.
Two employees were in the back of the restaurant cleaning at about 11:15 p.m. when three men entered, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said. The armed men tried to force the employees into the business' cooler and were attempting to rob the restaurant, officers said, when one of the employees fired his personal gun at the suspects.

The employee, who said he has been robbed twice on the job, shot and killed two of the suspects after he said they told him to raise his shirt, which was where his gun was hidden.

"There is no choice," the employee, who did not want to be identified, said. "It's either (that or) they see my gun, they get it from me (and) that's the end of me…. I didn't want to use my gun, but it came out (as a) last resort."
The third man fled, police said. The suspects' names have not been released.
Investigators have interviewed both employees and collected evidence from the restaurant. Police are also continuing to search for the third man.
