Just after you help clean up the Metro Kingdom, Cappy will tell you that the titular Odyssey can now travel to one of two locations. Pick the Seaside Kingdom, and you'll be treated to an ocean of sparkling water, an evil Octopus, and a hundred purple seashells serving as the coins for the Kingdom.

Super Mario Odyssey holds many fantastic cosmetics behind the purple Kingdom coins, and when it comes to the Seaside Kingdom, those hundred can be easily swept up as long as you know where to swim.
Found At The Lighthouse During The Story
There are a handful of purple coins Mario can grab while on the path needed to trigger the story-related boss battle. This first batch of coins will be found in the area near the lighthouse.
The watery short path leading up to the lighthouse will hold two instances of coins near and above the spiky balls spinning around. Along with those, there are coins within the lighthouse itself, past the doorway to a short hallway.
Then, there's the secret underwater tunnel accessed during the story. Like the snail is saying, you need to Capture a Cheep Cheep to survive the dive, then after you enter the path, there is a bundle of coins near some kelp and another bunch hidden in a wall just above the crates you'll need to break open.
Found At The Lava Pond During The Story
Another handful of coins you can snatch up while doing the story is at a tide pool covered in lava.
You'll see these coins as you clean up the lava. Backtrack if you feel you missed them, but there's only one section of coins you're likely to miss outright.
Dive over the side of this island and Capture a Cheep Cheep. Look for an open section at the bottom of the island and swim up it to find a secret tunnel holding more purple coins.
Found As A Goomba Tower During The Story
For the path line where Mario has to avoid being annihilated by rolling seashells, you'll want to start Capturing some Goombas.
If you take damage and lose a Goomba, or if you just forget, there are clever jumps you can make with the ground pound or by throwing Cappy to also reach high enough to reach these coins.

Scattered Around The Shore
Sadly, the remaining coins will feel more haphazardly placed, at least in terms of how Mario will have to wander around the entire map, going off the beaten story path. Just look at the large red M on the map where Mario was when the coins were found. Each of those locations will be shown together, but away from the other coins, to avoid confusion as much as possible. Also, note that while the word 'shore' is in the title, some of these areas are grassy. The distinction is that Mario will be on land to grab these specific sets of coins.
The above locations should give you no issue now that you have the map locations, but the last one may be tricky.
You have to Capture a Gushen to grab these coins, using the water propulsion ability to rise high enough.
Scattered Under The Sea
The underwater locations are going to be the biggest pain in your neck, full stop. For starters, Capture a Cheep Cheep before you plan on directly going for most underwater purple coins. While there are plenty of coins in the shallow end of the water, many of them are in the deep depths. So if you aren't already a fish, you may just end up drowning.
As for how you'll find these underwater coins, there will be hardly any issue in terms of just scooping them up. Only one handful of coins requires a challenge, and that handful will be saved for the very end.For the majority, it will be the same as the coins on the shore; just notice where Mario is on the map and head for that area.
Then finally there is the handful of purple coins hidden inside a pipe puzzle on the seafloor.
Head to this spot on the map and dive to the bottom. You will have to stop Capturing a Cheep Cheep if you were.
Enter the pipe on the top right. You'll quickly notice the purple coins right behind a wall you cannot break.
What you need to do is stomp on the Koopa Troopa to your left. Once the Koopa is inside its shell, jump again to kick it to the right. It will bounce off the far wall, bounce way back to a bump on the ledge under it, and finally break the block guarding your path to the coins. All you have to do next is stand on the moving platform, jump, and break the blocks to make a path up.
