RECAP OF THE ANIMAL KINGDOM SEASON 6 FINALE
On Sunday, August 28, 2022, TNT aired Animal Kingdom season 6’s thirteenth and last episode.
The episode, titled Fubar, begins with a flashback to J’s expectant mother, Julia, in which Smurf turns against her after she has a positive influence on Pope.

The turn of events was ultimately what led to Julia’s passing and J joining the Codys’ criminal gang years later.
Back in the present, Craig, Deran, and J execute their plan to free Pope, starting a brazen heist that, despite all the odds, appears to be succeeding.
Until it is revealed that J has been secretly working against them from the beginning, sabotaging their getaway cars and letting the police know where they are, trapping them.
EXPLAINED ANIMAL KINGDOM ENDING: WHO DIES IN THE FINALE?
Pope, Craig, and Deran all escape the shootout with the police. But Pope suffers serious injuries after being shot during the exchange.
Later, while robbing a convenience store, Deran shoots Craig. Killing him in Deran’s arms, and Craig later meets a bloody end while being carried away by Deran.
J had hoped to convince Penny to leave the country with him elsewhere. But when she refuses, he reluctantly poisons and kills her. Knowing that she will probably turn him in to the police or Codys.

After pushing J into the pool so that he will drown, it appears as though Pope is sending J to his death. However, after reflecting, Pope changes his mind. And lets J escape, realising that Smurf’s treatment of J’s mother started the whole situation.
Pope then sets fire to the Cody residence before passing away. Because of the gunshot wound he received earlier in the police shootout.
The last scene shows J starting a new life after robbing the Cody family of their money and dismantling their enterprise. Despite getting his retribution and now living in a paradise island, J is still cold. Because he has no family of his own.
SEASON 7: WILL THERE BE ONE?
No, TNT will not air a seventh season of Animal Kingdom.
That’s because season 6’s status as the series’ last instalment was established when TNT last renewed the show.
The sixth season of Animal Kingdom ends, which doesn’t exactly make room for more episodes. Since J has completed his journey after finally exacting revenge on the Codys.
