Chase Elliott who drives the No.9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports is on cloud 9 sitting on top of the Cup Series standings tied up with Ryan Blaney with 241 points.
Chase Elliott is 19 points ahead but hasn’t won a single race this season to back up his current table position unlike his fellow teammates William Byron, Alex Bowman, and Kyle Larson who have at least a single victory under their names, unalike Chase Elliott.
He’s had a pretty wonderful season evidently with four top 10s and 2 top 15s with a P26 in the Auto Club 400. The fact that he is on the top without a single win has left everyone in wonder but he isn’t breaking a sweat when it comes to it.
“This deal pays in November, so we’ve got a long way to go,” Chase Elliott on his championship dreams
Chase Elliott replied that it’s still April and that the deal pays in November and we’ve got a long way to go when asked about him not sweating without a win yet. He also added saying that he has a great team and that’s the time he wants to be prepared for the most.
“Look, it’s April 2, this deal pays in November, so we’ve got a long way to go, I feel like we have a great team, and that’s the part of the year we want to be prepared for most,” said Chase Elliott.
He further added saying that we want to win and gain as many bonus points as we can as there’s still a lot of racing to go ahead.
“We want to win. We want to gain as many bonus points as you can — don’t get me wrong — but there’s a lot of racing to be done,” added Chase Elliott.
“I have no problems with that,” Chase Elliott on how he is coping with a switch to the NextGen car
Chase Elliott was questioned about his challenges faced while getting into the NextGen car prior to the 5th stage of this season to which he replied that Las Vegas was the only place where he felt challenged and made him realize that he had to break some habits to adapt to this new machine.
“I have no problems with that, I feel like we’ve been solid at times, other than Vegas, I felt like there have been signs of pace for us,” added Chase Elliott.
He concluded by saying that all he can do is to keep trying to move forward and there have been many opportunities to be where he wanted to and to have the right pace and drive the car he wants to.
“Keep doing our thing and just continue to try to move forward, like I’ve said, there have been times throughout the year where I feel like we’ve been right where we need to be and having the pace on track, the car driving as I want it to,” concluded Chase Elliott.
