I heard just last week that someone did buy it. Don't have any specifics or validation.
I hope that's the case. I've been to the "Choo-Choo Barn" and their attached fantastic hobby shop next door and I'd hate to see it go the way of others in the past when the family of the original owner decides to call it quits. OK, time passes and things change but it's still sad.
By the way, over on the "Model Railroader" Forum there's a thread called "My First Hobby Shop" or something similar. It's full of examples of shops that once were but are no more and for similar reasons.
