Christmas strolls start day after Thanksgiving

Butte and area towns are planning their annual Christmas strolls and more. To keep you in the holiday spirit, attend one, two or maybe more of these fun-filled festive events.

The strolls are listed alphabetically.

Anaconda: The Anaconda Christmas Stroll and Tree Lighting Ceremony will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24. The Parade of Lights goes down Main Street at 5:30 p.m., with the tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. at Kennedy Common. Music will be by The Choraleers.

Butte: “Home for the Headframe Holidays” is this year’s theme for Uptown Butte’s Christmas Stroll. The event is from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 and will include the Parade of Lights and tree-lighting ceremony.

Deer Lodge: The Deer Lodge Christmas Stroll and Parade of Lights is 4-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1. The Tina Schowengerdt Memorial Parade of Lights is at 6:30 p.m. and includes the lighting of the Christmas tree. A free holiday movie feature will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Rialto Theatre.

Dillon: The Parade of Lights and Christmas Stroll in Dillon will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1. Old St. Nick makes an appearance at 6 p.m. to light the Christmas tree and lead the parade. Holiday revelers are encouraged to stop and shop, too.

Ennis: The Spirit of Christmas stroll in Ennis is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8. Strollers can shop at the local stores and also enjoy some holiday cheer. In addition, the Lions Club Park by the Madison River will be lighted festively for the season.

Philipsburg: Join Philipsburg in celebrating Yule Night, a festive evening with cheer in the air, is from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, in Philipsburg. The evening includes live music, a lighted parade, pictures with Santa, food and drink, and more. The event is hosted by the Philipsburg Chamber of Commerce.

Sheridan: The Sheridan Christmas Stroll begins at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 on Sheridan’s Main Street. The events includes a visit from Santa and a tree-lighting ceremony.

Twin Bridges: The annual Twin Bridges Christmas Stroll and Yuletide Festival starts at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, on Main Street. The evening will have a visit from jolly old St. Nick and festivities for the whole family.

Virginia City: The Virginia City Christmas Stroll will be held Saturday, Dec. 9.

Whitehall: The Whitehall Christmas Festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.
