Cold front moves in, temps to plunge tonight – WSOC TV

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A big cold front is set to arrive over Charlotte Thursday. These large fronts arrive in waves, so while the front itself has already moved through the entire area, the big chill is still on the other side of the mountains.

TIMELINE: Arctic blast heading to Carolinas

Temperatures will only warm to the upper 50s Thursday afternoon and while that isn't a dramatic chill, it is 20 degrees colder than Wednesday. The bigger plunge will arrive Thursday night.

Conditions Friday morning will start off near freezing and will only warm to the mid-to-upper 40s later in the day. The heart of the cold air will settle in by Saturday morning with near record lows in the 20s.
