Dancing With the Stars Recap: Bethany Mota, Sadie Robertson, and Betsy Johnson's Performances

Hello, Betsey Johnson: We have a new fan favorite! That move at the end (usually reserved for Olympic ice-skaters) got a jarring applause in the press room. Who knew?! Not a fan of the ultra-conservative, '50s-style hair, but I loved her and her dance. 28/40

Update: Betsey Johnson has completely surpassed my expectations, and I've fallen in love with her and Tony. Check out our conversation backstage:

Glamour: You guys impressed the heck out of us tonight. Betsey, what you did with your leg was a move straight out of an Olympic ice-skater's playbook!

Betsey Johnson: I just was so happy! I usually screw something up, and Tony can read it from a mile away. Tony has good reason to worry about what I'm going to do, because I don't usually know!

Tony Dovolani: My goal with Betsey was fitness, and I started working on that with her right from the get-go. She's actually up to 10 push-ups right now! This wasn't just a clothes makeover, this was an entire makeover of her—to start believing in herself. She's a cancer survivor and needed to start living like one and being a strong role model to all the women out there. Everybody has beauty! You just have to rediscover it!

Glamour: Betsey, you have one of the most iconic signature hairstyles. Was it hard going from the glam dreadlocks to the '50s up-do?

Betsey: I wear a lot of extensions, and I [actually] don't like my regular hair. So I tie on all this stuff [the dreadlocks]. I always felt that a curl accentuates a curve. I never had cheekbones! Tonight they're really there! I always hide my face under that hair. Tony's going to make sure I'm living the vida loca gorgeous life.

How fascinating is that? Here we have a woman I think all of us thought was super confident in her looks and her talent, and yet in one 30-second rehearsal package, we find out that's hardly the case. It was so wonderful to see how happy Betsey was backstage yet sad that it took her this long to feel this way. Betsey, you are beautiful, and I hope this is just the beginning of many confident, gorgeous years ahead for you. You deserve it.
