“From one Deamon Deacon to another”- Cameron Young receives wholehearted wish from Will Zalatoris

Cameron Young has shown promise ever since he burst onto the circuit. His impressive debut campaign for the PGA Tour was full of praises. But to make it even sweeter, Cameron has a memoir to show for his stellar performance as he won the Arnold Palmer Award for the Rookie of the Year 2022 PGA Tour.

Cameron Young succeeds his fellowmate – Will Zalatoris from the Wake Forest school who received the Palmer award last year. Before this, Young finished 5 times in a runner-up position which included the British Open. This award was awarded to him based on the votes of his peers.

A close at 65 with a 17-foot eagle putt at the British Open, Cameron was just short of the first position finishing behind the Australian golfer Cameron Smith. Young received a thumping 94% votes of the members to clinch the award ahead of Tom Kim from South Korea and Sahith Theegala, the American.

A whopping $6.5 miilion earned, Cameron Young set a record for so much money by a rookie in a single season. Scottie Scheffler did the same in 2020 when he won the Rookie of the Year without a tournament victory. Currently he’s World No. 1 with multiple tournaments and a major to his name. “I’m sure you’ll see him have a breakout year and win a couple of times, be on the top of some leaderboards again,” Scheffler stated. Considering this, things are looking only on the upside for Cameron Young at the moment.
