Guide for Dead by Daylight

Killer Specific and Adept Achievements

All achievements that can only be unlocked by a specific killer will be found here. You will need to purchase the associated killer to get these if you have not purchased them already.

The killers are in order of release and certainly do not reflect any order that you should play them. I would suggest first playing Wraith, Nightmare/Freddy, Doctor, Executioner or Clown. The game's description of easy, medium and difficult do not always reflect current version or a player's rank. Instead I will list all killers with a basic classification on their adept difficulty for beginning killers going against beginning/average survivors. Also in the description is a time/grind estimate for killer second or third achievements. These are just my opinions on each killer/achievement. Depending on your skill or play-style your experience may differ slightly. For killers with lengthy grinds associated with them sometimes it is best to come back to them after you have some helpful teachable perks.

Listed too are the Challenges that are associated with a Killer or a Killer's Perks. Again, so much of this game's completion is based on bloodpoints. You should always have a challenge selected and if possible align your challenge selection with the killer you are working on. Also, equip Barbecue and Chili when not going for adept achievements.

Notes on "Adept" for Killers

Recent changes simplified adept requirements for killers. Basically, you need to kill all 4 survivors while only having that killer's unique perks equipped. Having the survivor bleed out does not count or if they DC during the match. Mori kills count. Only the 3 unique killer perks can be used and a 4th perk can not be used.

Also, check out Otz's video on killer add-ons. I don't recommend watching this from beginning to end. You should probably only need to watch certain sections related to killers that you have long grinds or are hard to play as.

Easy with a very quick grind

Trapper is a pretty straight forward killer. His trapper bag add-on is pretty much essential. You should not need to level up trapper past 10 to get all of his achievements. Survivors escape time from traps can be shortened with luck related perk/offerings. Otz is probably the world's greatest Trapper. He has a good tutorial on Trapper but not necessarily any adept advice. When watching his vids, take this into account that he will be running different perks. Any of his Trapper vids should give you some great insight on where to place traps.

  • 10 trapped survivors - Try placing traps in grass or debris in areas that survivors are likely to run to in a chase. Traps around shack are usually strong.
  • Good Starter Perks - Sloppy Butcher, Brutal Strength, Whispers/Spies
  • Challenges - Tome I-I, II, III, IV

Easy with a quick grind

Wraith is a fun killer to play and an excellent killer to learn to play the game with. You will not need to level him up past 10 for his achievements. Wraith is particularly weak against flashlights so keep an eye out for survivors going for blinding. Face a wall when picking up downed survivors. He is also prone when cloaked too. A basic Wraith strategy cloak after most hits and then vary whether or not to follow up with a chase or move on. This keeps survivors guessing and off generators. Otz's 101 is good but just disregard his build.

  • 50 Surprise Hits - With Wraith, you have to get 50 hits within a few seconds of uncloaking. Using the add-on "The Ghost" with others that mask the sound of the bell can give a slight advantage to your 50. Really, almost all of Wraith's add-ons should help with the 50. Try uncloaking where survivors will run to or where you can temporarily trap them.
  • Good Starter Perks - Sloppy Butcher, Predator/Bloodhound, Spies/Whispers; do not use Insidious
  • Challenges - Tome IV-II, III, IV
  • Jump Scares

In public matches, with the Wraith, Surprise & hit a total of 50 survivors.

    Jump Scares

Hard with an average grind

Hillbilly is going to be your first killer that takes a little while to get used to. You may want to save him until you finished some other killers first. Playing Demogorgon, Cannibal or even Twins should help prep you for Hillbillly. You might want to level him up to 15 for an additional perk slot if you find the chainsaw hard to use. The timing of the chainsaw is a little tricky. Keep in mind there was an update to Hillbilly in the summer of 2020. Any videos or guides created before this will be different substantially. His add-ons and revving technique changed. Basic Billy strategy is to not respect pallets. Try revving up as survivors go for the pallet. Enduring will help you. Too many chainsaw attacks might prevent you from getting a high "chaser" score with Billy. So, use a combination of hits and chainsaws. Here is another Otz 101 on Billy. Again ignore the build and focus on Otz's technique.

  • 50 Chainsaw Hits - After you manage to get the adept, simply chainsaw only. If you don't pick up anybody, most people will catch on that you are going for your 50 and let you get a few free chainsaws if you let them live.
  • Good Starter Perks - Tinkerer, Enduring, Whispers/Spies, Sloppy Butcher will not work with a chainsaw
  • Challenges - Tome V-I, II, III
  • The Grind

In public matches, with the Hillbilly, chainsaw a total of 50 survivors.

Hard with an average grind + high "real" luck needed

Nurse is very tough to learn but very strong too. You are going to have to raise Nurse up pretty far to get her 3 blink add-on needed for an achievement. Since you need to do that, you might as well grab "A Nurses Calling" as a teachable too; it's one of the best in the game. I would highly suggest waiting until you have put some serious hours into the game to start playing as Nurse. There is a brown add-on that will help you learn how to do blinks. Keep in mind that Nurse has had many changes over the years so the older the video, the less you should watch it. Below is an OhTofu video with Nurse. OhTofu also a video called "Ultimate Nurse Guide". That video gets a little dialogue-heavy but is worth if it if you really are struggling with your adept Nurse or even 100 blink attacks.

  • 100 Blink Attacks - There is no magic advice on how to get these attacks; just lots of practice. You need to blink and hit a survivor before you go into fatigue mode. The attack can be after your first, second or third blink.
  • 3 Blink Grab - After the update with dedicated servers, grabs are now harder to get making this one of the most difficult achievements in the game to get. You will need to level up Nurse to about level 15 before this add-on will even become available. Look for "White Wards" that will allow you to reuse the 3-blink add-on without losing it. Then, you have to blink 3 times in a row and then grab a survivor while they are repairing, opening a chest, cleansing a totem, opening an exit gate, etc. The easiest way to get this achievement is simply by asking for help. Search for a lobby with crossplay turned off. Message everyone in the lobby that you want to do the 3 blink grab and someone should be kind enough to help. To do this one legit, look for generators that can only be repaired by on or two people. From one of those generators, blink 3 times. Wait, and then blink 3 times back. A lot of "real luck" and gameplay is going to need to happen in order to get this achievement.
  • Good Starter Perks - Sloppy Butcher+A Nurse's Calling+Thanatophobia, Whispers
  • Challenges Tome VI-I,II

Intermediate with an easy grind + basic skills

Hag is a unique killer in that the best strategy is to not chase like other killers. The basic strategy is to set traps in loops, direct the chase towards the trap and hit. Even a little campy play is common among Hag players with hooked survivors and traps. Hag's traps can be avoided by crouching past them and flashlights can destroy the traps. When using Hex: Devour Hope, the perk will light up when you are far enough away from a hooked survivor for it to count. When you are expecting a trap to trigger, spam the activate button as survivors approach. You will probably not need to level up Hag past 10 for her achievements. This video is Otz watching a match played by Michi. Michi is a great Hag player but does not do spoken commentary in English. Watch Michi's channel for more great footage if you need it.

  • 100 traps triggered - this is going to be pretty easy. Just place traps like crazy each match. Add-ons that allow more traps will help with this. Try to place traps near, totems, chests, generators etc. If you are not concerned with winning the match, you can easily knock this out in a single match by just placing traps like crazy and not hitting survivors.
  • All survivors hit with trap attacks in a match - if you go into a match with the mindset of doing this, this is quite reasonable. You need to have a survivor trigger a trap, teleport to the trap and then hit the survivor within a few seconds. Pay attention to who you have hit with a trap attack and then move on to the next survivor. Only attack with trap attacks. There are a few add-ons that will help with trigger distance that should help.
  • Good Starter Perks - Hex: Ruin, Sloppy Butcher, Hex: Devour Hope, Insidious; can sometimes fool survivors, Deer Stalker is great if you plan on slugging survivors with a blind team. Hex: NOED can sometimes be ineffective if you are already running other Hex perks and all 5 totems are cleansed.
  • Challenges - Tome IV-I, IV
  • Triggered

In public matches, with The Hag, cause survivors to trigger her Phantasm traps 100 times.

    Triggered
  • Even Punishment

In a public match, teleport to your Phantasm traps and hit all 4 individual survivors at least once.

Easy with easy grind

Doctor is a pretty easy killer to work with. Doctor was updated in late 2019 and his mechanics changed drastically. His basic strategy is to use his big blast in the centre or big area of a map to find survivors. Then use the short charge to stun survivors before they vault, unhook or throw pallets. There is no need to level up Doctor past 10 for his achievements. As survivors' insanity levels rise due to shocking them, a "ghost" version of Doctor will appear. The "ghost" always faces towards to insane survivor giving you a direct clue to where a survivor is. Since the Doctor had a major rework, reference videos from at least Nov 2019. Here is Otz demonstrating some basic Doctor tactics.

  • 500 treatments - Once you have your adept done, start a match and follow a survivor around and shock like crazy. Move on to another survivor after you have driven them crazy just to be nice. NO reason to hit anyone if you have adept already.
  • All four survivors Tier 3 insanity - Again, after you have adept, just shock the entire match and don't bother to hit anyone. Using the perk Distressing increases the range of your big shockwave. Keep in mind that when using the perk Monitor and Abuse, when not in a chase, will make your radius smaller. When a survivor is in Tier 3 madness, they will grab their head and scream without you shocking them; you will also get a notification. Simply shock torture all 4 survivors in a match.
  • Good Starter Perks - Distressing, Bitter Murmer

Intermediate with an average grind but 1 w/high skill and "real" luck

The Shape, Michael Meyers from Halloween was the first killer in Dead by Daylight to be based on a film character. He is also the first killer to start having a really complex set of instructions. He is a decent killer and is who I recommend using to level up a character through all bloodweb tiers. You will have to at least level him up past 15 to get an add-on needed for an achievement, plus you are going to have to play at least 25 matches for another achievement. His "Evil Incarnate" is one of the hardest achievements in the game so expect to not get it your first attempt. His perk "play with your food" takes some getting used to. To get the most out of it, start a chase with your obsession, then look away to lose chase; rinse and repeat for a fast Meyers. Meyers Tier I gives him no terror radius or red stain but is slow with no lunge attack. TIER II is faster with a terror radius and red stain. At tier III, you are very fast and can down survivor in one hit. To go through Tiers, you "stalk" survivors. Survivors can only provide a limited amount of "stalk". Your basic Meyers, strategy is to get out of Tier I as quick as possible unless in an indoor map where you might be able to get some grabs and sneak attacks. Then at tier II, you want to "stalk" until your meter is as close to full as possible. Only, go to tier III when you are right behind a healthy survivor. If multiple survivors are near, down them instead of hooking. After your tier III runs out, go back to hitting and stalking. Stalky Boi is probably the best known Meyers play. All of his videos are great for learning Meyer's technique. The included video is a good tutorial. He also does a great "Burger King" Meyers where he does not go beyond Tier 1 and a few videos where he does the "Tombstone"/kill all four in a match.

  • 100 TIER increases- since survivors only have so much stalk to offer per game, you are only going to be able to get about 8 max TIER increases per match. Some add-ons change the rate you can get stalk but there is really no way to get more stalk than what is already capped.
  • 4 TIER III kills- I suggest saving this one for one of your final achievements. There are a lot of factors that can ruin your attempts and some "real luck" is needed. FYI, using a "Mori" offering does not count towards this. The two add-ons to look for in the bloodweb are both pink and called "Judith's Tombstone" and "Fragrant Tuft of Hair". Grabbing any white ward offerings is a good idea because you can use these add-ons twice. "Judith's Tombstone" is the essential add-on that allows you to get the kills. "Fragrant Tuft of Hair" allows you to stay at TIER III permanently. With the add-on in use, simple tap the attack button near a survivor(dont hold attack like the lunge) and Meyers will grab and kill. Kill all four in a match and that's it. Sounds simple right?

Well, a lot of things can go wrong not to mention it takes a lot of stalking to get to TIER III with both perks. By the time you get there with your slowdown, it is likely all gens are done. Even if you are successful, a disconnecting survivor can ruin it. Then the challenge of the last survivor getting hatch becomes real. Saving this one until you have some decent teachable perks is not a bad approach. An approach myself and others have used in the past is the sleeping idiot approach. I will go into detail below but here are so other tips and builds to help with this one.

  • After killing your first 2 survivors, slug the third, kill the forth and hopefully find the forth before they find hatch.
  • At the start of a match, a high place is a great way to find people to stalk.
  • Meyers can stalk through several wall and structures; take advantage of this.
  • With "Tombstone" you are slow. Use the fully upgraded perk "Play With Your Food" to get a 15% speed increase. Killing survivors will not cause you to lose tokens.
  • You may end up accidentally downing a survivor when in TIER III and with the anti-hatch concept, having the perk "Deerstalker" might not be a bad idea.
  • Use any teachable perk that slows down generator progress. "Ruin+Undying" combo is great = Hag's Hex: Ruin + Blight's Hex: Undying. Plague's Corrupt Intervention is good.
  • Any teachable perk that affects your terror radius will help you get close enough to stalk. Perks like Doctor's Monitor and Abuse or Hillbilly's Tinker or Pyramid Head's Trail of Torment can help.

The sleeping idiot technique involves the perk Insidious as the main ingredient. Stalk your TIER I to TIER II and then find a hill or somewhere in the middle of the map that you can see far away but also survivors can see you. At some point, a clueless survivor or two will approach you and probably run in your face. This will give you your full TIER III. Even after hooking a survivor, you should be able to hide somewhere and get a good double stalk if they continue to heal at hook. A good part about survivors is that they always come back to a generator they were working on. So kicking a generator, hiding with insidious should allow you to get some easy stalk while controlling a generator.

  • Good Starter Perks - Insidious, Whispers, Save the Best for Last

Intermediate with 1 easy grind and 1 "real" luck/high skill

Huntress is a slow but powerful killer once you get the hang of not having an icon to see your target. You can put something physically on your screen like a piece of tape. Just be really careful with this as it might damage your screen. If you do put this on, you might want to play Deathslinger at this time too. Most of the time you can easily predict a survivor's direction and hit them as they vault or drop a pallet. You might want to level up Huntress past 10 if you are having a hard time getting your 24 meter hatchet downs achievement; the add-ons might help with long-distance throws. You can draw a hatchet and put it away by pressing the regular attack. Always try to keep your hatchets full and don't throw unless you can get a hit. As a survivor, dropping pallets early is common. Scott Jund is considered one of the best Huntress players out there. His tutorial is actually entertaining to watch.

  • 20 downs with hatches at least 24 meters - well, it used to be 100 downs. Yeah, if hitting survivors wasn't hard enough now it has to be at least 24 meter and has to down them. Like many achievements, you can simply ask the other team for help with a few. A message like, "can you help me get 5 downs from 24 meters away" to the opposing team will usually get a response. Also as survivors exit the match they will wait at the exit. Often they will allow you to get a few free hits here. Hex: NOED and aiming at the exit gates is good too. Gaining some distance and aiming at hooked survivors will sometimes gain a down too. If you are really desperate, there are a few add-on combos that allow you to down survivors with one hatchet and a belt to give more hatchets.
  • 1000 hatchet throws - this is as easy as it sounds. Save this for after you get adept and your "skilled" Huntress achievement. Simply start a match, stand near a locker and throw hatchets
  • Good Starter Perks - Whispers, Spies, Bitter Murmur, Hex: NOED, Hex: Lullaby is OK against beginners; Sloppy Butcher and hatchet throws don't count
  • Challenges - Tome III-I, II, III, IV

Intermediate with an average grind

The Cannibal, aka Bubba aka The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was the second "licensed" killer in Dead by Daylight. You should absolutely level him up to 40 to get his teachable perk "Barbecue and Chili". His perk Knockout might be the one to avoid putting into your perk pool. His chainsaw is a little easier to use than Hillbillies and is way more deadly to a group of survivors. Bubba had an update around the summer of 2020 that changed his add-ons and revving tremendously. The chainsaw mechanic is a token system and you have to tap the chainsaw button if you want to use more of it. The hardest thing to get used to is not bumping into things. You can avoid most things by turning your body into the wall or obstacle slightly rather than leading with the saw. Always start your rev when you are very close to a survivor.

  • 100 chainsaw attacks- Since you are going to level up Bubba anyway, you should have plenty of time to practice this. A goal of 4 chainsaws a game is reasonable. Take advantage of survivors waiting at the exit gate.
  • Good Starter Perks- Barbecue, Franklin's, Whispers; the chainsaw won't work with Sloppy Butcher
  • Challenges-

  • Butcherin'

In public matches, with The Cannibal, successfully chainsaw a total of 100 times.

    Butcherin'

Easy with an easy grind

Nightmare aka Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Streetis an excellent killer with poor perks. He had an update sometime 2019 that changed him quite a bit. Use his teleport power frequently either as a fake-out or to gain some mobility across the map. There is no reason at all to level him up past 10. use his snare in a chase and loop like crazy. There are few fun add-ons that switch snares to fake pallets that are great too. At one point DBD stats had Freddy with the most 4K(kill) wins. Freddy is so good, there is barely any reason to watch any footage of him. But if you must watch something with him here is Otz again

  • 200 Dream World - This is pretty easy. Survivors will go into the dream world on their own after 60 seconds. You can bring them into the dream world by hitting them with your basic attack. Survivors can wake themselves up by failing skill checks, interacting with the alarm clocks, being woken up by an awake survivor or being hooked. On average, you will probably get about 10 or more sleep changes/dream world states per match/
  • Good Starter Perks - Sloppy Butcher, Whispers, Blood Warden, Fire Up
  • Challenges

Easy with a long grind

Pig or Amanda from Saw is a decent killer with some good perks. The achievement for 125 traps will take many games so it will be in your best interest to level up Pig. Plus the perks Surveillance and Make Your Choice are good perks on any killer. Avoid Hangman's Choice as it is not a good perk. To get the most out of Make Your Choice, it's icon will light up when you are far enough away to activate it. Place traps as soon as you can. Traps become activated when a generator is completed. The countdown for the traps pauses if you are in a chase. If you stay crouched, you are not in a chase. The trap will go off if the trap is activated and a survivor tries to go through the exit gates. The trap will not go off in a hatch escape. Survivors can use luck related perks/offerings to increase their chances of removing traps. Pig's dash attack is great in loop situations. With the perk Whispers, you can decide when you go into crouch mode. Here is a video from Dowsey to get the basics of Pig. Again don't pay much thought to the builds since you probably wont have many of the perks anyway. Dowsey has a good starter video but like other vids, you can disregard the build suggestions.

  • 125 traps placed on survivors - is going to take a while. You get four traps each match. Hopefully, you can use them all each match. There are a few add-ons that give you extra traps per match. Look for those add-ons to speed this one up a little. Something you can do to grind this out is put a trap on a downed survivor. Then bring the survivor to a puzzle box. Gesture that you want them to take off the trap. Then follow them until they get the trap off. Down them again and follow. If they run away, find someone else. Usually, people will catch on to what you are doing and help. You really just want games to go quickly so you can put traps on and start again.
  • Good Starter Perks - Sloppy Butcher, Whispers, Surveillance, Make Your Choice

Easy with an average grind

Clown is a pretty simple killer with a strategy similar to Doctor but suffers greatly from a lack of mobility. The recent update (Feb 2021) really changed his gameplay. Clown has some really good perks that work well on all killers. It won't take long to get his achievements so it is really up to you if you want to level him up. I would suggest at least level 15 for the fourth perk slot. Take advantage of his bamboozle perk when in loop situations and particularly at the shack. After hooking survivors, use Pop right away. Since Clown only has 4 bottles, use them wisely and usually on wounded survivors to end chases. You typically want to throw bottles at places you think survivors will go or places you don't want them to go. Most of his add-ons are useful.

  • 100 intoxicated downs after getting adept, simply go for the downs while intoxicated. That means that you have to down a survivor within a few seconds of them being exposed to your purple bottle juice. To speed this up a little, run Sloppy Butcher and Coulrophobia with any add-ons that allow you to carry more bottles or speed up reload time. After downing someone, just move on and don't bother hooking.
  • Good Starter Perks- Sloppy Butcher, Pop Goes the Weasel, Bamboozled, Coulrophobia
  • Challenges- Tome V-III, IV

Difficult with an average grind

Spirit is one of the strongest killers in the game with high skill demand. I would suggest waiting to start her until your last few adept killers. It should not take too many matches to complete her so I suggest not levelling her up any more than 15. The best thing you can to do play with her is to use headphones and boost the volume; only to a safe level and take a silent break after each match for hearing safety. Use your hearing to listen for breathing and footsteps while using her "haunting" power. Usually, you will want to go into haunting mode after you have wounded a survivor and then continue the chase while phased to end it quickly. Spirit's power really is causing survivors to react foolishly and taking advantage to that. When Haunted Ground is activated, you might want to go for multiple survivors before it runs out IF you can located them quickly. Definitely break pallets for Spirit Fury. Don't forget about Rancor at the end of a game when going for adept. OhTofu has an old but still really good tutorial. Just make sure to watch a regular game footage vid of spirit too.

  • 30 "Haunted" downs are the result of downing a survivor while you in or just after coming out of the haunted mode. Like many other killers, just go for the downs once you have the adept and avoid hooking. Try using Insidous for some fake outs.
  • Good Starter Perks - Sloppy Butcher, Insidious, Whispers, Spirit Fury, Hex: Haunted Ground
  • Challenges- Tome II-I, II, III, IV
  • Conniption

In public matches, with The Spirit, use Yamaoka's Haunting to down 30 Survivors.

Intermediate with an average grind

Legion is a killer known for keeping survivors injured. His second achievement was changed in 2019 making it easier. Currently, there really is no reason to level him up past 10 or 15. Using Sloppy Butcher is excellent on him. Discordance is a great perk that ties really strongly with his power. Your best strategy with him is to use his power when you know there are at least 2 people nearby. After hitting someone with your power/"Feral Frenzy" nearby survivors will be shown with "killer instinct". Quickly get to the blinking orange survivors and get another. If no other survivors are near, pull yourself out of the frenzy with the frenzy button attack instead of attack. Survivor's with the "deep wound" status have an orange timer under their name. The timer pauses while in a chase. You can also use "Feral Frenzy" to get across a map quickly or get to a pallet etc in order to block. Survivors with "killer instinct" applied will be revealed inside lockers. Also, make sure to take advantage of Mad Grit by spamming attack if a survivor is near while carrying another survivor. Although this video is not a tutorial, Otz covers all basic Legion strategies.

  • 25 deep wound downs are accomplished buy using "Feral Frenzy" to get the deep wound status and then downing that same survivor before they either mend or the timer runs out. Remember, it is faster to cancel your "Feral Frenzy" than to miss intentionally. Like other grind achievements, if you don't hook anyone you can probably farm this with wise survivors. After downing a survivor, carry them off to a corner or other unsafe area and then Frezy, cancel and down; rinse and repeat.
  • Good Starter Perks- Sloppy Butcher, Discordance, Mad Grit, Whispers
  • Challenges-Tome III-I, II, III, IV

Difficult with a long grind

Plague is an interesting killer with the power to puke. You may find her hard to use or get her adept. If you do spend some time with her, by all means her teachable perks are good. Dark Devotion would be the one perk of hers not to teach. Survivors can avoid healing or heal every chance they get when going against the Plague. Plague's regular puke is infectious to objects like generators, chests, pallets, items, windows and survivors. Fully infected survivors infect everything they touch or are touched by. Plague can infect survivors partially while they are hooked or in the dying state. The basic Plague strategy is to infect as many people as possible and use the "damaging" puke when you are able to get easy downs. Sometimes it is best to infect and then move on. Survivors can be down with one hit if they are fully infected. Survivors that are fully infected will have + icon above their name. To fully infect a survivor, hit them with a lot of puke or expose them to a little and they will become fully infected on their own. Survivors can heal and recover from infection by using the pools around the map. an infected pool grants you the puke that can damage but not infect. Once all, pools are contaminated you gain the damaging puke status. Held pukes can be cancelled with the attack button. Otz had a good adept video, a tutorial and other great game footage vids too.

Ghostface from the films Scream (and Scary Movie) can be an absolutely devastating killer when done right. You are probably going to have to play quite a few games with him so you might as well level him up to at least 15. He does have Thrilling Tremors and I'm All Ears that both great perks on most killers. Ghostface is really similar to Myers, Pig and Wraith. The really big key to his success is being able to sneak but also to take cover when being spotted. The best add-ons are the ones that allow for your power to return quickly. The lean while stalking is difficult to use in most situations but it is really valuable. Look for tall and straight structures to lean and stalk from. Getting up high and stalking is a great strategy. Any stalk you have on a survivor stays with them until you attack them. Jaee is the best Ghostface player out there. Also, don't cloak near a survivor you just downed or hooked; they can see you and will uncloak you. Any gameplay footage of him playing is valuable.

  • 50 marked survivors downed requires you to stalk survivors until they gain the exposed status; indicated by a red circle around their icon. The tricky part is getting the stalk without being seen. Ducking and hiding behind objects is key. Keep in mind when going for adept, you typically want to go for healthy survivors only. However, downing survivor with the insta-down may lower your chaser score. Once adept is over you just need to "mark" and down. One thing you can do is down a survivor, drop them in a corner or high place and keep tabs on them with deerstalker. Then wait and hide for someone to pick them up. While hiding you should be able to get stalk on both of them as they heal. Then strike when marked. If you don't go for hooks, survivors should catch on to what you are doing.
  • Good Starter Perks - Thrilling Tremors, I'm All Ears, Whispers; Sloppy Butcher is good but won't work with your"marked" attack

Intermediate with an easy grind

Demogorgon (Stranger Things) is a good killer in the right hands but with not-so great perks. There is not a reason to level him up past 10 or 15. If you get someone in the basement a portal nearby will be huge. Portals near generators or a central location are good basic strategy. Portals should be placed in locations that are a bit out of the way or not close to strong loops. Even placing portals for no reason can simply serve as a distraction. Demo can shred through pallets like a chainsaw killer. In chases, go into shred mode as survivors go for pallets or window vaults. Otz covers basic Demo start in this gameplay footage.

  • 30 downed survivors with shred are easier than chainsaw mechanics. You do have to down them with the shred attack for it to count. Get right behind them and charge or look for narrow, straight passages to use shred. NOED might come in handy for some shred-downs. Like other grinds, don't bother hooking people and they should catch on to what you are doing and maybe help out.
  • Good Starter Perks - Surge, Whispers, Spies; Sloppy is OK but won't count with your shred attack

Difficult with a moderate grind

Oni is basically a re-imagined Hillbilly. Due to his grind achievement, it might be worthwhile to level him up to 15 but his perks are not strong on their own to warrant levelling him up any further than that. The general strategy with Oni is to chase and to down your first survivor while collecting blood along with way. When you are fully powered and find a second healthy survivor, unleash his power "Blood Fury" and down them. If a survivor nearby, go for them too. Picking up a survivor in Blood Fury will cancel it out. The turning and mechanics will take a little while to get used to. Make sure you have the hit before swinging in Blood Fury as the cool-down is long. Here is the great Scott Jund with an Oni guide.

  • 75 downs with Blood Fury is difficult due to the fact that Blood Fury depletes and must be charged again. Like other grinds, not hooking survivors and staying within proxy distance to attract more is a decent strategy. Deerstalker should help with this. There are few add-ons that allow Blood Fury to last longer or take less blood to get.
  • Good Starter Perks - Whispers, Sloppy Butcher(for more blood), Zanshin Tactics is great for beginning players,

Intermediate with a short grind

Deathslinger is an easy killer to play with as long as you have some map/tile knowledge and have the basic chase strategy down. There is not a good reason to level him up past 10 unless you are having a hard time getting adept or just enjoy playing as him. Like Huntress, having a physical marker on your screen to help identify center can help get quick shots in. In most cases, just having your weapon drawn, will cause survivors to weave; shortening chases. Generally you will want to get a quick hit in and then go for the shot as they run away. Always remember to reload. You can get shots through windows and reel survivors up to the window for a hit. A full reel in with no swing results in damage but a long stun to you. Here is Oh Tofu with a tutorial.

  • 30 speared downs requires you to hit a survivor with your gun and then down them. Like other down-grinds not hooking survivors allows you to focus on your task at hand. Once spearing, reeling and downing a survivor place them in a corner, monitor them with deerstalker and wait with Insidious. As soon as they are up again, fire away.

Intermediate with moderate grind

Executioner aka Pyramid Head from Silent Hill is a fun powerful killer as long as you have some decent map/tile knowledge and basic chase skills. Since his achievements are not that demanding there is not a reason to go beyond level 15 with him. Executioner's power is a shockwave to can hit multiple survivors through walls and any object as long as they are one the same plain. His second power is his trail that when applied to survivors, allows Executioner to cage survivors rather than having to hook them. This eliminates any flashlight saves, pallet saves, body blocking, decisive strike and saves the killer time. The down side is that survivors generally are able to heal off the hook/cage because the cages are always as far from the killer as possible. Like Huntress and Deathslinger, just holding your knife causes survivors to run cautiously and can bait them into dropping pallets or other predictable acts. When survivors attempt to go for a save in front of you, a well timed shockwave can hit both survivors. Executioner's short terror radius can allow him to sneak up on generators or survivors healing off hook. You will typically want to put trails in pallets or during loop chases. Survivors will typically run around your trails making their loops longer and your chases shorter. Here is an Otz guide

  • 30 survivors in Cages of Atonement requires you to leave trails, have a survivor step in your trails and then instead of hooking them choose the option of "cage of atonement" when standing above them. Since this counts as a hooking, you can do this a max of 8 times per match. Leave lots of trails around the map. If you down a survivor without them being tormented, use the trail create a perimeter around the survivor so that they are likely to step on the trails when rescuing them. Survivors can avoid the trails by crouching over the trails.
  • Good Starter Perks- Bitter Murmur, Whispers, Spies, Deathbound, Sloppy Butcher does not work with the shockwave

Difficult with a short but high skill-based grind

Blight is a very difficult killer to play and should definitely be saved until you have some strong command of the game. Due to the difficulty of his mechanics and his greatest perk you may want to level him up to 40 and get Hex: Undying as a teachable. If you are able to get adept then I would suggest just waiting to make the level 40 climb at a later time. A basic strategy would be to get a hit on a survivor and then use his bounces to finish the chase or get to the next tile quicker. You can not attack during your first rush; you can attack after bouncing once. He has a basic add-on that helps point him at a survivor after each bounce and an add-on that shows bounce locations. These would be good for your first few games. The add-ons that allow you to see auras after bouncing and pallet breaker are great. Scott Jund has a great tutorial aimed at Blight attack strategies. Also, a Monto adept video

  • 30 survivors hit with lethal rush unlike other grind achievements, this one does not require you to down a survivor. Use the add-on that locks on to survivors to make this easier. After downing someone, don't hook and just find the next survivor. Use Whispers, Spies and/or Bitter Murmur to help track down survivors faster. Realistically, you should be able to grind this out in a few games.

Moderate with a short skill-based grind

Twins would not be my first recommendation to play as a killer but could easily be the easiest intermediate skill-based killer in the game. The grind achievement should go by quick enough that you should not need to level up beyond 10 or 15 max. The twins have a great perk called Oppression at level 35 should you choose to level up that high. Unfortunately, the Twins function as a great camping killer. The basic strategy is to get a hit and then finish the chase with the small Twin Victor. After you down the survivor, you can go for another if one is close. After hooking, leave one of the twins close to the hooked survivor if available. If you have not found anyone by the time the unhook happens, switch back to preferably get the person that just unhooked or slug the injured. You also have the option of leaving one of the twins near a generator that is near completion or another strategic spot. During a chase in a strong loop, switch to Charlotte right at a pallet or window to block that location. Victor can jump over pallets by aiming his jump up all the way. When the Twins were first launched, Victor could not interact with the locker. After an update, Victor can now hold the locker shut for a few seconds. Here is Otz playing an early version of the Twins.

  • 10 downs with Victor attached requires you to hit the healthy survivor with the small Victor and then get the knock down with the big twin. You will want to place yourself somewhere in the centre of the map or close to known survivors. After attaching Victor, pick up the chase and quickly get the down before Victor is removed. There is an add-on that allows Victor to stay on longer and the switch back to be quicker. These add-ons should help. If Victor is removed too quickly, move on to another healthy survivor.

Moderate with a short grind

Trickster plays very similar to huntress, plague and deathslinger. There is really no reason to rank up Trickster past 10. At this point, no one is really sure how to best play Trickster. A tactic that seems to work is that you would use the knives in long loops and chases but use regular attack in short loops. Another "trick" to keep in mind is to monitor your "Main Event" meter and let it get close to full. Then, fill the meter and activate the power when near a healthy survivor or a pair of survivors. Sometimes even throwing a few knives in chase will cause survivors to run a winding path that can shorten a chase. Most of the ad-ons you will get a low ranks are decent and should help. Starstruck is his best perk and you should really look for survivors close to you when picking up.

  • 50 laceration/health states with knives is something that you should focus on after getting the adept. Like other killer specific achievements, just go for throwing knife attacks and dont bother hooking. The achievement only requires that you fill the laceration meter; i.e. change a health state due to the throwing knives.

Moderate with a moderate grind

Nemesis has a random factor that can occasionally play against you. For the most part, the zombies are a huge benefit while the tentacle should be used sparingly early game. The tentacle is great as survivors are vaulting or rescuing.

  • 65 downs with the tentacle is a little tricky. Keep in mind that this is a 3 step process. You can use the punch attack in combination with the tentacle. The final attack must be a tentacle. Ad-ons to use are the ones that give you power boost from zombie attacks or from survivor attacks. While trying to grind this, I found it best to get rid of a survivor quickly. This allowed me to slug a survivor while getting survivors off generators. Deer Stalker really helped with this too.

Pinhead the Cenobite can also have a random factor similar to Nemesis. His first power that shoots the single chain can be a little tricky to use and its effect is questionable. The second power that binds survivors and allows you transport is great. I managed to get adept without using the single chain power once. Using add-ons that enhance the puzzle box/lament configuration is the way to go when working on adept. His adept perks are all decent.

  • 30 binds with the possessed chains should be something you focus on after getting adept. Ad-ons that this increase the cooldown and increase chain range will help this short grind even shorter. Aim the cursor right at the survivor, and then you should be just about on top of the survivor to do a quick shot.

Easy with a short grind

The Artist (AKA Carmina Mora)is a powerful and unique killer. Her add-ons can really help either with the adept or grinding out the 50 downs. The crows are a little hard to explain how to get damage. Basically, if they hit a survivor in the open, it causes damage or if the survivor has a swarm on them and they are hit a second time, it will cause damage. Setting two crows a short distance apart and then firing them can inflict damage if it lands both times. Or landing a single crow, seeing the survivor run and hitting them with another murder of crows can also be a long-distance strategy.

  • 50 downs with crows- For the 50 downs with crows, combo ad-ons that will lower the recharge time of the power and increase the flock duration on survivors. You might want to go for a hit to wound a survivor first.
  • Good Starter Perks- Bitter Murmer, Grim Embrace, Spies from the Shadows

Easy with a short grind

Onryois a cross of Wraith and Freddy but even better. When going for adept, the hit-and-run strategy may be the most effective. Chances are survivors will fail the tricky skill checks giving you the opportunity to warp to the nearest TV. If survivors are heading towards an area with a TV you can warp there while cloaked. Take advantage of your scourge hooks. After getting your adept, try damaging generators while cloaked/de-manifested. With the new adept rules(4 kills)you can kill 3 survivors with the right ad-ons.

  • 30 applications of Condemned - The condemned status does not refer to a full, killable status associated with Onryo. Survivors gain a bar of condemned when they interact with a TV or you warp near them. After you get your adept, simply warp around the map as much a possible. An indoor map like the game or Midwich will help increase the area you condemned will be effective.

Hard with a moderate grind

Dredge is not an easy killer to step into. It's power is a little strange. The easy part is using the locker teleport mechanism. The nightfall portion is helpful but since there is not much you can do to keep it in nightfall, it is a bit of an unreliable bonus. The husk ability is really cool but if you are not familiar with chases and maps, this will usually only be used by more advanced players. Playing Dredge at uppper ranking for an advanced player should not be difficult.

  • Down 50 survivors during Nightfall - Definatley focus on this after getting adept. Use sloppy or any other perks that may help down survivors in 1 shot. Also any perks that effect nightfal to either happen sooner or last longer will help. Even chasing wounded survivors until nightfall happens

Easy with a tough set of rules

Mastermind is an easy killer to learn. He grabs people and can vault pallets. After grabbing people they get infected. After they are fully infected, they are vulnerable to damgaed attacks from the grab. There are limited heals available on each map. Wesker's perks are decent a compliment his abilities well. Ad-ons are all decent.

  • Slam 10 survivors into another - Weird one. The situations have to be JUST right for this to work. You have to grab a survivor with your tentacle (I hope I spelled that right) while another survivor is behind them so that they slam together. It may be easier if you are able to message the survivors that you are up to this. Also, doing this just as a survivor is pulled off hook, survivors are at an exit gate or if they are healing.

Easy with an easy grind

Knight is a suprisingly easy killer to play. The trick is to abuse the guard ability. Just send a guard out all the time. Try to corner a survivor or send the guard to an area where you know a survivor is. Going for adept the ad-on that allows the assassin to appear 2x is really helpful.

  • Damage a survivor 50x while being chased by a guard - Simply rules but the hardest thing will be not letting the guard hit the survivor. Any aura revealing perks will help locate survivors. Also lowering your terror radius may help get the guard set up near a survivor. Just hit the survivor while the green aura is around their feet.

Odd with an odd set of circumstance

Skull-Merchant? is odd. At the time of writing this so near to their release, I predict major changes will happen with this killer. I would even go so far as to predict these achievements will change too. Currently, the power is not something that can be easily contolled. There is so much dependence on survivor gameplay.

  • Down 10 survivors with lock-on applied - This SO dependent on survivors staying in your drone areas. Most of the time survivors will simple leave the drone area. IF you can conrner a survivor and force them to stay in that area, the lock-on will be applied. Then you have to down them.
