Guide for Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode I

Welcome to Sonic 4 Episode 1. As with the past Sonic games we can dive right in. Firstly, we beat the game and hunt for Chaos Emeralds. That means search out for those rings. You may want to consider doing this speed achievement, listed below, first, or return to it later. There's an achievement related to obtaining all the rings in the first special stage as well, so keep that in mind, scroll down a bit for more information. Many of these achievements can be "returned to", so although these follow a logical order below, don't worry if you must attempt them multiple times. Keep in mind that there's an achievement related to accumulating extra lives. A specific method is listed below.

First off we need to practice this stage. Beating it under a minute needs some real speed. The highest route is the quickest but you need to do it just right.

To obtain a Chaos Emerald, you need to finish a stage with at least 50 coins with you. When you reach the stage goal you will notice a Giant Ring a la Sonic 1. The Special Stage is also similar to Sonic 1 however you need to collect an amount of rings under a time limit. Use the time bubbles to assist you.

If you are about to fail quickly pause the game and hit retry to start the stage again. If a Special Stage is failed you will need to re-complete the level with 50 rings.

You cannot play the same stage over for an emerald. The first few stages are the easiest. Try to earn your emeralds in the early acts.

Try to collect all the rings for

If you didn't get this achievement in the first attempt, once you complete the first Special Stage it's unlocked in level select and you can then try all you want.

This just takes practice.

The Final Stage off all the Acts are boss fights. You will be awarded this after your first fight with Eggman. This is the first boss from Sonic 1 so a simple jump on the floating ground and a hit to his machine is how we complete this fight.

In Sonic 4 earning extra lives comes more natural than past Sonic games. A real quick way to earn this achievement is by completing Casino Street Act 2 over and over. The cards you hit through the stage will generously provide extra lives.

If you have been managing to snag an emerald on each stage you should have this achievement as you approach the end. As it's up to you to pick which stages to try to keep 50 rings on, try to do it in stage order as the levels do get harder.

Once you complete the game you will be awarded all stages cleared. If you finished the last boss without taking damage you will also have earned "Untouchable".

Now Untouchable is quite the pain to earn. The bosses are random with attacks. You need to rely on luck and skill.

You can attempt this achievement any time if you aren't up for it now. Practice and try not to get too upset or you may find yourself rushing, which is bad!

Complete each stage as Super Sonic. You MUST be Super Sonic when you cross the Goal Post. You CANNOT be Super Sonic at one point and finish later as plain ol' Sonic as it won't count. This is basically your second playthrough.

This playthrough should be done on Time Attack.

You will most likely earn this during your Super Sonic runs. If you need to go back for more enemy kills after you beat the game as Super Sonic you can just keep replaying Splash Hill Act 1.

Now that we have a score for everything we can upload to the leaderboards.

Every stage must be completed once in Score and Time Attack.
Every Special Stage also must be done in Time Attack.
Super Sonic also has a leaderboard.

Once you upload all the score the achievement unlocks. Congrats on your 200G. This game was tough due to that final boss.
