Helldivers 2 Theory: Devs are Adding New Updates, More Advanced Weaponry Based on How Earth Would Respond to an Alien Invasion

Helldivers 2 is all the rage nowadays; this game’s fanbase keeps on increasing with every passing moment. And with that rising fanbase, its main story keeps evolving. This is how a live service title works, after all. These games are ever-evolving and ever-changing pieces of software that keep their players engaged for a long time.

The way Helldivers 2 changes, though, is special in its own way. Where other games expand their worlds through new DLCs. Developer Arrowhead Game Studios has decided to take a different approach with their co-op shooter. They have put fans amidst an ongoing dynamic war, and fans have an interesting theory about how it might go in the future.

A new fan theory suggests Helldivers 2’s war might have some real-world inspirations

In Helldivers 2, players participate in a war of galactic proportions. In this war, they are fighting a couple of factions that are controlling a bunch of planets. The winner of this fight would determine who would control these planets.

Recently, this way took a turn for the worse, and players lost a planet called Malevelon Creek. This planet was controlled by the robot faction called Automatons. Many fans did not take this loss very kindly; they even started comparing it to the time when Halo fans lost Reach.

This is unlike any other live-service game out there. Here, fans are more involved in the conflict and taking losses to heart. This only means that the developers are putting a lot of effort into the story.

Recently, it was revealed that Helldivers 2 has its own “game master.” The only job of this “game master” is to keep changing the direction of this ongoing in-game war so players are always on their toes. This definitely makes every single conflict and event special. This is exactly why the Malevelon Creek incident was so talked about, because it came out of nowhere.

And now this game master is adding equipment and weapons to make sure players are able to face those automatons a bit more effectively. They have started adding mechs because players needed some kind of specialized weaponry to combat those hulks and armored bugs.

A Redditor by the name of MikeBert97 suggests that “this would be the first game, to my knowledge, that receives updates like this. Truly making one feel like they are defending the galaxy rather than just playing a game.”

This theory may or may not be true. But there are more chances of it being true because the events in this game are actually thought about by a real human, not a software-based game director.

Let’s hope the developers are working equally hard on Helldivers 2 cheaters

The big problem that is surrounding Helldivers 2 is the rise in cheaters. Everywhere, fans can be seen complaining about some cheaters ruining the experience for them. There has been no response from Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO regarding this issue.

Here’s hoping that they are also working on blocking these cheaters alongside expanding the game. This expanded game would be of no use if it were ruled by cheaters. This is exactly what CEO Johan Pilestedt has suggested that they would rather work on improving player experience by adding gameplay features than adding new shiny technology to it. No doubt removing cheaters from their newly launched game would improve player experience in a number of ways.
