If you want to take on Malenia, you will need to follow the same path as getting to the Consecrated Snowfield. This area cannot be accessed until you have reached a certain point in the game, which is after defeating Morgott, the Omen King. The reason for that is that you need to have the Mountaintop of Giants unlocked in order to access this location. The area is pretty high leveled as well, so there is no point going there early anyway. Once again, to get to the Consecrated Snowfield region, you will need to get both parts of the Haligtree Secret Medallion.

The first part of the Medallion can be found Castle Sol, in the Mountaintop of Giants. This is the hardest part of getting to the location since it is a very high leveled area. Once you reach Castle Sol, you will be facing Commander Niall, who is a very very strong boss in Elden Ring. In fact, some consider it as the toughest boss in the game as well. After defeating the boss, you can get access to the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left).

To get the second part of the medallion, you will need to visit the Village of Albinaurics in the South Liurnia region. This area has a boss fight as well, but you can avoid it. Once you reach the area, you need to hit a pot. An NPC will come out of that pot and then give you the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right). Once you have both of these, you Grand Lift of Rold. Make your way through Ordina, Liturgical Town, and light the four fires to open the magical barrier. You will then reach Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, where you can take on Malenia.
