Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman is the first child and son of American actress Anna Hathaway and actor Adam Shulman.
Born in 2016 in Los Angeles, situated in the U.S. state of California, many have described Shulman as the realisation of his mother’s dream of motherhood. Even though he was a healthy baby when he was born, his birth was not a straight line, according to his mother.
Hathaway once said to her followers on Instagram on the process of conceiving her son: “For everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies.”
During an interview with Wall Street Journal, the Alice in Wonderland actress also spoke about how difficult getting pregnant was for her and other women.
She said: “There’s this tendency to portray getting pregnant, having kids, in one light, as if it’s all positive. But I know from my own experience…it’s so much more complicated than that.
“And when you find out that your pain is shared by others…you just think, I just feel that’s helpful information to have, so I’m not isolated in my pain.”

Despite the difficulties Hathaway went through to conceive him, his birth has brought so much joy and completion to her life. Speaking to Wall Street Journal, Hathaway said: “I didn’t feel fully landed and fully here until I was a mom.
“It’s not like I was lacking integrity, but it made me want to be completely, on every level, true to my word. And that meant stopping any nonsense that I had going on inside myself. And it’s little breaks that you give yourself sometimes when you know that you’re not being your best self.”
Shulman might be seven now but he is already a big brother to Jack Shulman, who was born in 2019.

Shulman’s father co-owns the jewellery company James Banks Designs, alongside his business partner, Heidi Nahser Fink. The company offers handcrafted whimsical pendants, necklaces, earrings and rings, among others.
Shulman told 1stdibs that his company was born when the world saw Hathaway wearing a Lightkeeper pendant designed and crafted by him and his work partner.

They got talking later and then became romantically involved. After being together for four years, Shulman proposed to Hathaway on November 28, 2011.
