Meet the brilliant Nigerian boy who gained admission into Oxford University at 6 years old

A Nigerian British boy, Joshua Beckford, gained admission into Oxford University in the United Kingdom at the age of 6.

Joshua Beckford was accepted to study Philosophy and History at the university despite having Autism and being abandoned 48 hours after his birth in London, where was then adopted by Knox and his wife when he was ababy.

From nationality testing, Beckford is said to be of Nigerian descent.

At 10 months old, his father, Knox Daniel, noticed that Joshua was not your average child when memorized the letters on a computer keyboard just by sitting with him.

When Joshua was two years old, he could read fluently using phonics and could speak Japanese. The 6-year-old stated that when he was four years old, he could play with his laptop and pull out body organs with a simulator.

In his words:

“Since the age of four, I was on my dad’s laptop and it had a body simulator where I would pull out organs. I want to save the earth. I want to change the world and change people’s ideas to doing the right things about earth”

His father who was surprised at his intellectual capacity knew he his son’s brain was too advanced for a standard curriculum. Realizing this, he homeschooled him and later wrote to Oxford University to find out if he could participate in a philosophy course for intelligent kids between the age of 8 and 13. By then, Joshua was 6 years old and was accepted to study Philosophy and History at the University of Oxford in England. This feat made him the youngest person admitted to the university.

The whiz kid has since graduated from the Department of History and Philosophy at the tender age of 14 and has been branded one of the smartest people in the world.
