So, CATS and Modern Family's Cam are pretty much a match made in heaven--not only do they both have a flair for melodrama, they both happen to be the only two entities who take CATS really, really seriously.
You may detect a little bitterness there because in fifth grade, the other school got to go to New York and see CATS, and mine did not. The closest I ever got to seeing the show was doing my part in a "Memories" ballet recital number--which included, now that I think about it, oddly incongruent Rockettes costumes. Something got lost between concept and wardrobe there.
But anyway, I think we can all agree that CATS makes just as good of a punchline as it does a musical.
