Makima Was The First Character That Tatsuki Fujimoto Thought Of

Makima is one of the most unusual characters in Tatsuki Fujimoto’s original Weekly Shonen Jump manga series. Her charisma keeps her at the top of the list of the best characters in the series. She’s a conventionally pretty young woman with striking eyes and a voice that lulls Denji into a state of safety and security he’s never felt before. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Inspiration for Makima

Makima’s characteristics include being a master manipulator who enjoys exerting control over people. She would use all means necessary to persuade others to follow her and achieve her aims, even if it meant sacrificing others’ or her own life. Her true identity was kept hidden for much of the series, so there are a few elements that some viewers may have passed over or missed entirely. Makima’s design was inspired by two other anime characters: Benten from The Eccentric Family and Haruko Haruhara from FLCL. Benten, being a magical entity feared by others, has her feelings and difficulties that “lowly” plain human individuals could never comprehend.
