I'm currently considering a trip to gainsborough (2.5 hours each way) as Mattyboy says I want to be in the hands of the experts having been in mixed hands previously. I am not sure of the set up at ping in terms of price and what you get, any guidance would be appreciated. . .
You have to book through a Ping stockist and I think there would be around a 2 week waiting period. The cost is £30 and for that they will fit you for everything required. Its at Gainsborough GC, on the end of the driving range there. First, they do the static measurement, which dosn't mean alot, as it gives about 4 possible colour codes, but it also decides grip size. Then its hitting balls from the lie board. Then they look at Trackman and measure the ball speed verses spin rate to get the right shaft. DG S300 were to spinny for me. They recommended the AWT stiff.
After this I went on the indoor putting green using the Ping app. They had one of those all adjustable putters and you can set it how you want.
You leave with a print out of your fitting.
This is the good thing as then you are not tied to an uncompetitive pro and can shop about.
Make sure that you are warmed up beforehand - you can use the range and I blagged a token from the pro shop gratis for this.
These boys really know what they are doing and I couldnt fault them, and would recommend it to anyone.
