Pokemon GO has their Season of Mischief still ongoing, which is ready to dive headfirst into the Halloween season with the brand new What Lies Beneath The Mask Special Research.
This Yamask-themed Special Research will have players doing a lot of catching of Ghost Pokemon in particular, which is very fitting for the time of year.
You will have plenty of time to complete this one too, which is a nice change from some of the more recent ones we’ve seen.

Pokemon GO Halloween Mischief Start And End Time
The Pokemon GO Halloween Mischief event kicks off on Friday, October 15 at 10:00 am local time and will run through Sunday, October 31 at 8:00 pm local time.
That is when the overall event will run, but it is split into two parts with two different mini-events within.
Creepy Companions will start on Friday, October 15 at 10:00 am local time and run through Friday, October 22 at 10:00 am local time.
This will be followed up by Ghoulish Pals, which will run from Friday, October 22 at 10:00 am local time until Sunday, October 31 at 8:00 pm local time.
What Lies Beneath The Mask Special Research Tasks And Rewards
With the start of the Halloween Mischief Event comes a brand new Special Research for players to complete known as What Lies Beneath The Mask?
For this Special Research, Yamask is the headliner due to its mask of course, but there is plenty more to it as well.
This comes alongside a Timed Research that you will have to complete in a certain amount of time, while the Special Research will be allowed to be completed outside of it.
It would not be recommended to wait on this though, as finding Ghost Pokemon is much less common in other parts of the year.
The What Lies Beneath The Mask Special Research features four steps of tasks with three each to complete, which you can see in full below as provided by LeekDuck.
Step 1
- Catch 40 Ghost type Pokemon – 400 Stardust
- Transfer 9 Pokemon – Duskull encounter
- Make 49 Nice Throws – 9x Ultra Balls
- Rewards – Yamask encounter, 4,000 XP, 9x Nanab Berries
Step 2
- Catch 40 Ghost type Pokemon – Halloween Mischief Pikachu encounter
- Make 9 Curveball Throws – 490 Stardust
- Use 49 Berries to help catch Pokemon – Banette encounter
- Rewards – Galarian Yamask encounter, 4,000 XP, 9x Razz Berries
Step 3
- Catch 40 Ghost Type Pokemon – 400 Stardust
- Catch 9 different species of Ghost type Pokemon – Alolan Marowak encounter
- Make 49 Great Throws – 49x Poke Balls
- Rewards – Galarian Yamask encounter, 4,000 XP, 9x Pinap Berries
Step 4
- Claim Reward! – 4,900 XP
- Claim Reward! – 4,900 XP
- Claim Reward! – 4,900 XP
- Rewards – 4x Yamask Candy, 9x Yamask Candy, 4,900 Stardust
