Porta Portese Sunday flea market in Rome

The best known Sunday street market in Rome goes from the old Porta Portese gate in Trastevere, along the Clivo Portuense and the Via Portuense to the Via I. Nievo and beyond.

Open from 07.00 until 14.00 every Sunday, the sprawling market has hundreds of stalls selling clothes, shoes, handbags, fashion accessories, household goods, fabrics, jewellery, records, books, plants and flowers, antiques, collectibles, bicycles and spare car parts.

Stamina is required for a morning at this crowded Roman market and anyone going should take great care of their handbags and wallets.
