Real Reason Chadwick Boseman Hated Playing Black Panther: “You have this gritty, tinted view”

When it comes to portraying these larger-than-life characters on the big screen, the costumes worn by the actors play a crucial role. Actors often face various challenges when donning their superhero attire, ranging from colorful and eye-catching outfits to uncomfortable and restrictive ensembles. In this regard, the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the title role of Black Panther in the MCU, did not stand out.

Boseman gave a stellar performance but was vocal about his dissatisfaction with the suit’s practicality. In a rediscovered interview with Entertainment Weekly, he discussed his challenges, including having his vision distorted by dirt and haze.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Boseman explained how the costume limited his vision. The suit’s gritty and tinted design gave him a distorted view of the world, making it difficult to get a clear impression of his immediate surroundings.

“”I see the same thing. You don’t have as much vision in the peripheral. Your peripheral vision is definitely skewed, and it’s gritty, so you have this gritty, tinted view. You can see enough. I think, as far as the mythology is concerned, vibranium is dynamic, it can change how it’s used. It’s not a liquid, but it has the ability to change shape and change form and still retain its strength. As far as the actual suit is concerned, there’s a lot of comfort in the shoes and the boots, and that’s about the only part I did enjoy. That being said, the boots are the hardest part to get on, but after you get them on, you’re like, ‘OK, that feels good.’ I remember being extremely hot, claustrophobic, but the shoes are still good. Everything else you get used to. It has the ability to absorb the attack of another person that is part of the suit’s power. He does have other weapons that come out, and he definitely has claws you can see, but other than that, I’m not going to reveal anything.”
