In February this year, a tragedy struck Turkey. A massive earthquake of magnitude 7.8 hit the districts of Turkey and Syria in Gaziantep on February 6. The disaster hit millions of people in dark and many were buried in their sleep. One of the victims of this earthquake was professional Valorant player “Gizem” luie Harmankaya.
In early hours of Monday, February 6, the earthquake hit the city of Gaziantep which razed the houses and buildings to scattering rubbles. And in the chaos that ensued after the earthquake claimed the life of talented Valorant player Harmankaya. Harmankaya was the professional Valorant player and played for Turkish team UnknownPros. And as a Tribute to the late player , Riot games have rolled out new title in her name. The title named “Gizem title” would be available for players to achieve in the latest season royal pass.
Tribute to Gizem from Riot Games
The Riot Games community manager teased and unveiled the Gizem title. At 4250 high XP, it can be unlocked.
Harmankaya played in the Valorant game changer EMEA With her Turkish team UnknownPros and completed her last match in September. There has been a lot of praise and appreciation for this token of kind gesture from Riot games. Players will have to go through Valorant stash cases , buy battle pass and wait on for the XP to build up for the title to enter your own name.
However this was not the first time Riot Games has taken note of their players. In earlier instances, Riot Games introduced gun buddy as a tribute to a boy who passed away from cancer. Riot is renowned for occasionally creating battle pass items to pay homage to Valorant players, and this is precisely what it did when it made the Corbin’s Light gun friend to remember a fan who had passed away.
Harmankaya’s close friends have expressed their gratitude after seeing the Gizem title for their fellow friend. Riot Games played a part of helping hands and urged to players to donate to the relief support in their official Valorant tournament and Donating to international Medical Corps. With this move, Riot Games showed a deterrence in showing support and standing with players that had a tragic passing.
Riot Games is setting a humble precedence by honoring the fallen players and paying homage to their legacy. This move is going to go a long way for the fan base and their player pool.
