Here is our gift guide for the main characters of Rune Factory 5, listing all of their favorite items, liked items, and birthdays dates so you can plan ahead and raise your favorites’ affection in the fastest and best way possible.
The affection system is a staple of the Story of Seasons (Bokujou Monogatari) series from which Rune Factory started as a spinoff. Raising a character’s affection allows you to become friends with them and learn more about their story, and trigger dating events leading to marriage.
Rune Factory 5 gift guide: Gifting system explained
First, each character has different gifts they have as favorites, these are the best gifts you can give them to increase their affection as fast as possible, and it’s those gifts you should give them as birthday presents. Then, each character has liked items, which won’t raise affection as much but will be much easier to get. Lastly, each character has disliked and hated gifts, items that you should avoid giving them or else it’ll lower their affection.
You can learn each character’s birthdays and gift preferences as you talk to them every day and read their dialogues. Once you first hear about a character’s birthday, it will be automatically added to the in-game calendar. You can also experiment by giving them gifts randomly.
How to gift items in Rune Factory 5
First, pick up the item you wish to gift from the menu and place it in your hands. Then when you’re near a character, press the A button to give it to them. A dialogue will trigger, with the character commenting on your gift.
How many items per day should you gift?
You should only gift a character the same “best gift” item once per day. If you give them the same gift twice or more on the same day, it won’t raise their affection as much.
You can also gift tools, equipment, and items besides cooked dishes
Certain characters have level 4 (gold upgrade) or level 5 (platinum upgrade/max upgrade) farming tools as part of their favorite gifts. Some like seeds, accessories, etc.
