The glare from the sun is going to be less of a problem really soon.
If it is a finished wedge, it will not rust unless you take the finish off. I have heard of people soaking the wedges in Coke (other cola drinks are available), but check the interweb for advise before doing so. If it is a raw wedge, water will do it.
