Yes, sorry for not been clear. Vice Captain is the Captain elect for the next year.Interesting how it is done at your club. Seems a good idea. But does this not make it open to all which we are being told it has to be?
It is open to all. Anyone can put their name forward if they so wish but it's better to be nominated. Yes there are a few clicks and a few person's who resemble the pointy part of Big Ben, however there's only been one (I can't say poor) "slightly not as good as others" Captain since I've been a member.
Generally they are looking at people who have put a bit of effort into the club off their own back. For example, our current Captain has been looking after the juniors for many years. Our current Captain Elect (Bluewolf, it's Phil J!!) has done many years of helping comps, doing the cards, being on every committee going etc.... and never asked for anything in return.
