The Perfect-for-Summer Double Date Beach Weekend You Have to Try

I don't know about you, but once the temps start rising all I want to do is strip down into a bikini and spend time with my man (preferably on a beach). I get all romantic and sentimental and start making weekend plans through Labor Day. That's why, last Friday, I packed our bags, invited J's best friend and his sweetheart and we all booked it down to the Jersey Shore. Nothing beats a summer date—especially when you make it a double.

Glamour's covered cheap summer date ideas and easy summer looks before, but I've been eager to test out some new warm weather double date ideas I've had for couples on a budget. So, when my parents said we could use their condo in Monmouth County, I was kind of psyched.

J, Brian, Bligh and I set out down the shore late on Friday night to beat traffic. No car? Train works too, pals. We got there around 1 A.M. and decided a toast to our weekend was in order - Coronas for everyone! Luckily my parents had left some in the fridge for us so we were a little spoiled here. But you can totally make a big punch if you're paying and you want your buck to go farther!

On Saturday morning, J and I played Mom and Dad and bought bagels for everyone (not to mention some supplies for the day drinking that would later ensue). After eating, we all quickly changed and spent hours on the beach. It was still a little breezy by the water, but we were just excited to be away from New York City.

When we had clocked in enough time in the sun, we freshened up and made a trip to the grocery store. We'd be cooking our own dinner that night to save on money again (a dinner out for four can add up!). Plus, sometimes the act of actually cooking together is just plain fun. Unless you're me and are missing that "like-to-cook" gene. In which case: you can drink wine while the food is prepared and clean up when everyone's done. Good girl.
