Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is out now on Nintendo Switch, and the new remake most notably brings back the Mystery Gift system, here’s what you need to know.
Older Pokemon fans probably remember the Mystery Gift feature, first introduced in Gold and Silver. The feature is also included in Diamond and Pearl, and is now coming back in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

How do you unlock Mystery Gift in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?
You can first unlock Mystery Gift after clearing the first gym (Coal Badge) and defeating the double team trainers in Route 204. You can access Route 204 by leaving Jubilife City through the Northern exit.
Once you’ve done that, go to the TV Station building in the northern part of Jubilife City. Climb to the third floor of the building and speak to the brown-haired NPC, standing next to a blond NPC. He’ll introduce himself as the TV producer and ask you for advice regarding future programming. You’ll be able to select different answers, pick the last answer on the list: “EVERYONE HAPPY WI-FI CONNECTION” to unlock Mystery Gift.
How to use Mystery Gift to get Platinum outfits and Manaphy Egg
Basically, Mystery Gifts lets your receive items, outfits/skins, or Pokemon for free during time-limited events. Once the option is unlocked, it will be added to your main menu. Access the Mystery Gift menu and select “Get via Internet” to obtain the Platinum versions of the protagonist’s outfits and the Manaphy Egg.
These are the only gifts available for now. You can only redeem the same Mystery Gift once per save data. Keep your eyes on the official Pokemon socials, Twitter, and the like as that’s where new Mystery Gift events should be announced in the future.
