Asuka is one of the most talented WWE superstars of the current generation. The Empress of Tomorrow began her wrestling career in 2004 and made her debut with the female promotion Atoz. She wrestled at Atoz until 2006 before retiring due to chronic nephritis. She wrestled for numerous promotions after her comeback, such as Ice Ribbon, Pro Wrestling Wave, Pro Wrestling Zero1, and many more.
Asuka wrestled around the Japanese independent circuit and the American independent circuit from 2010 to 2015. She also wrestled for promotions such as Smash, Wrestling New Classic, and Reina Joshi Puroresu before joining WWE in 2015. The Empress of Tomorrow joined WWE in 2015 and became the NXT Champion in 2016, with her reign as NXT Women’s Champion being the longest in NXT history.
Asuka moved to the main roster in 2017, and her first feud was with her old rival Emma. Her breakout performance was when she won the first ever women’s Royal Rumble in 2018. She failed to win at WrestleMania 34, but the failure didn’t affect her career. Since being on the main roster, The Empress has managed to become a two-time WWE Raw Women’s Champion, a one-time SmackDown Women’s Champion, and a three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.
Apart from being a wrestler, The Empress of Tomorrow is a graphic designer and worked as a full-time graphic designer before her wrestling career. She has designed various graphics for various mobile applications and owns a hair salon named Another Heaven. Asuka is a working mother
Becky Lynch forfeited her RAW Women’s Championship prior to the MITB PLE in 2020 because she was going on maternity leave and decided to forfeit her championship. Asuka won the MITB contract, and the following night on RAW, Lynch gave the good news to The Empress. The Empress of Tomorrow was filled with happiness and joy after hearing that Lynch was going to be a mother.
Lynch had one more surprise for Asuka, which was placing the RAW Women’s Championship in the briefcase. This meant that Asuka had not won the MITB contract but the WWE RAW Women’s Championship.
In a 2020 interview with Sports Illustrated, Lynch said that handing Asuka the RAW Women’s Championship meant a lot since Asuka deserved it so much. Lynch said that Asuka is a dedicated mother who has shown that it is possible to be a powerhouse and have a family.

“She really, really deserves it. And another element that people missed, because it’s not really advertised, is that she’s a working mom. She’s proven that you can do it all. You can be a badass and go off and have a family, you can come in and still kick more ass, have a YouTube show and be entertaining as all hell.”
Asuka held the RAW Women’s Championship for 76 days before losing to Sasha Banks on RAW in July 2020. This was her first reign as the RAW Women’s Champion. She recaptured the championship by defeating Banks at SummerSlam 2020. This was the beginning of her second reign, which lasted for 231 days before she was defeated by Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 37.
