A woman died after she was hit on Interstate 65 late Friday night.
INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Police say a woman was killed in a crash on Interstate 65 late Friday night.
The crash happened around midnight Friday about a mile north of the Southport Road exit.
According to State Police, the woman was walking or running in the left lane of southbound traffic when she was struck.
Medics found her in a grassy area on the side of the road and pronounced her dead.
Police have not identified her. They found an abandoned car on the shoulder of the road nearby. Police are working with the Marion County Coroner's office to notify her family.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the woman stopped and cooperated with police.
The left two lanes of the interstate were closed near the 104 mile marker due to the crash, but reopened by 2:30 a.m.
